geoffleach has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

The Perl Foundation's page on CPAN licensing guidelines (http://www.perlfoundation.org/cpan_licensing_guidelines) says, in part, "Also required is license metadata in the META.yml file that identifies the relevant license". I seek any other requirements for META.yml. I've looked at several of these files and hey appear to be somewhat complex. This would suggest the existence of a script to create the file. A pointer would be appreciated.

META-spec can answer your questions. Also, a handy tool for looking at META.yml files is cpanq. For example:

    cpanq meta WWW-CPAN

Note: Use a dash instead of double colon for the distribution.
