The connection details are all made up! Thanks to all for your help I have found out why it wasn't working. Its to do with authentication. MSSQL authentication differs from Windows authentication. I asked the DBA admin guys to set me up with an SQL account to access the server rather than Windows account Blackadder	[reply]

That should not have made a difference to the code you posted since the error you were getting was datasource not found and not an authentication error. As a result I suspect you changed more than one thing. Windows authentication is very different from SQL Server authentication but that step comes after locating the driver or datasource.
