Jesse is quite right. Unfortunally, this was also true (and expressed) for 5.10. And that still took 5 years - many people wanted 5.10, but only a few did the actual work. Luckily, there were still a few people who did it. Otherwise, we'd still be waiting.

Hopefully, this time there will be more people with both tuits and time to help get 5.12 out of the door.
