cormanaz has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Howdy Bros. I am wondering if any monks out there know how to use Win32::OLE to talk to MS Word for the purposes of inserting Unicode chars into a document. This must be possible because you can manually insert Unicode chars into Word:
  1. Press and hold down the Alt key.
  2. Press the + (plus) key on the numeric keypad.
  3. Type the hexidecimal unicode value.
  4. Release the Alt key.
Is that user friendly, or what? :-/

I know how to set up an OLE session with word (useful summary here). But alas, I can't find any indication of how you use its methods to insert Unicode, or how Perl would interact with them (I know it's natively Unicode).

Your monkly advice would be greatly appreciated. The offending language is Arabic, if that matters.

TIA...

Steve

Now question is, having created the variant, how to get it into a Word doc. This MS stuff is SOOOO arcane and convuloted :-(

Anyway, thanks, his gives me some clues to go hunting with. I'll post solution here if I figure it out.
