    It means you downloaded a .ppd for the wrong platform or Perl version. Go get the right one, and try it again.

    Where did you get it? What is your perl -V:archname -V:version and ppm version?
    $ perl -V:archname -V:version archname='MSWin32-x86-multi-thread'; version='5.8.9'; $ ppm version ppm 4.04 (ActivePerl 825) Copyright (C) 2008 ActiveState Software Inc. All rights reserved.
      HI , these are the details

      My perl version is v5.6.1 archname=MSWin32-x86-multi-thread PPM interactive shell (2.2.0)

        Perl has made a lot of progress since 2001, not counting bug fixes. For working with Microsoft Windows I'd suggest upgrading to either the latest version of Strawberry Perl or ActiveState Perl if at all possible.
