Thanks for the reply, zentara. Is there ever a question that baffles you, or a monkhood level beyond chancellor to which you aspire? Unfortunately, neither 'LOGIN' nor 'CRAM-MD5' produced better results. 'LOGIN' gave the same "530 Access denied" error from the ISP, while 'CRAM-MD5' gave me "504 auth type unimplemented (#5.5.1)." I'd be grateful to hear any other ideas.... cypress	[reply]
