Found a great cron program for windows

jdlev has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Just wanted to let you guys know. I've been trying to figure out how to get my programs to run on a consistent basis rather than having the program run forever and just sleep for 300 seconds.

I found cronforwindows.com - its a piece of cake to use and has a very simple GUI to manager your programs - best of all its free. Horay! No more sleepy time for my perl scripts.

Don't laugh! I haven't been programming but for about a year!

What's wrong with "at" accessed from command line (cmd.exe) or "Scheduled Tasks" accessed from "Control Panel" (if you like a GUI)? These are basically cron for Windows, they're free and they're included with Windows. UPDATE: You can access "Scheduled Tasks" from the command line too with "schtasks.exe".	[reply]

For what it's worth, personally I'd hesitate to recommend "at" for anything running every five minutes. Constantly rescheduling the job is more hassle than it's worth. Scheduled Tasks (GUI or command line) handles schedules of this sort nicely.	[reply]

I love it when a program comes together - jdhannibal I always heard scheduled tasks was a pain in the butt to use? PS...i thought this tool was free...it's not, and JUST EXPIRED! It claims it is shareware...but after a day they want $35 >:(	[reply]
