What you call "obvious" involves understanding the information (like we humans do), based on world-knowledge etc.  IOW, to successfully tell similarity as you have it in mind, you'd want artificial intelligence — which is unfortunately (or luckily, however you want to put it :) still not as advanced as some would expect...
