sri1230 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi - We use Mime::Lite Module to send emails with attachments. Our customer wants the attachments to be encrypted because they have some confidential data. Our Outlook email has a built in entrust encrption...meaning i could send an email with encrypyed contents and attachment by checking a check box and the recipient would get a pop up when he try to open his email attachment promting for password. So basically i want to encrypt the email attachment with entrust encryption in my perl script. Has anyone done this before. Please help!

Since no one is has replied yet, I'll give it a shot. I'm no encryption expert, but I think you should be able to sign and encrypt your messages with PGP in perl and as long as you distribute the proper keys, outlook should be able to open them.

AFAIK, Entrust products don't support OpenPGP, neither does Outlook. Have a look onto one of the SMIME modules.

        Thanks!
