in reply to Poll: How should the =( )= be called???

... the Rolex Operator with 11 upvotes from 16 votes. ;)

  1. 6 (+11 -5) The "Rolex" operator

  2. 3 (+11 -8) The Saturn operator
  3. -3 (+10 -13) The Goatse operator
  4. 5         The squeeze operator.¹

Cheers Rolf

¹) (approximately (+8 -3))¹ ,please note, not all downvotes are really counted, since the monastery limits the number of "significant downvotes" per day. So downvotes for propositions which are further down the list don't show anymore...

UPDATE: no I don't consider this poll representative, but at least it allows multiple votes and dynamic adjustments/propositions, which is sometimes a nice alternative to the local standard polls.

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

I thought of "wristwatch", but liked "Rolex" for its similarity to "regex". Personally, I don't wear a watch. Nor did I vote.
Hmm wristwatch is somehow long and not handy.

"Rolex" is easier, but what I don't like is advertising for a brand. Same problem with "Seiko" or "Swatch"...

      BTW: You can still vote.

      LOL 8)

      > Can we consider this a preliminary election of candidates, and then do this all over again somehow, but with some sort of decent preferential voting method?

... can we consider that you to tell us how to do achieve this?

Option 1: Realizing it with perlmonk accounts => restriction to available mechanisms.

Option 2: Using external service with login => perlmonks have to register again, people get lost.

Option 3: Using external service without login => multiple votes can manipulate the result.

Option 4: user je44ery implements his wishes within the monastery...

      Cheers Rolf

Well, it could be done manually but non-anonymously using option 1 (via another PMD thread). But then again, after performing my noontime stretching and a hot bath afterward to relieve tension, the imperative just isn't there for me now. Strange that.
