Can someone explain why it takes so long for perlmonks.org to respond? I am a total Perl geek but in my opinion the slowness does not say much for the Perl language. Is perlmonks.org running mod_perl?

If Fletch's super search isn't immediately turning up useful answers, check out the official PerlMonks FAQ on the topic, which links to many previous nodes discussing this.

Generally speaking, the bottleneck isn't Perl the Language, it's the Everything Engine/PerlMonks.

That lead me back to this node, hehe

It is running mod_perl. It is slow because the pmdevils are a bunch of lazy dorks (except jdporter), and because slow is good.

Furthermore, lazy page loading gives enough time space to think about it all, to check writeup formatting and such, and since you are procrastinating anyways while frequenting The Monastery, the site being slow gives you a head start in your endeavours.

Now, if you are in a hurry seeking answers and solutions, best thing is to sit back and muse about the reasons which dragged you into such a dreadful fix.

    Good time spent, anyways ;-)
