perl copy multiple worksheets

Appy16 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am new to Perl and i've been assigned a project in which i have to copy or merge multiple worksheets to a new workbook. Someone asked me to use win32::OLE but i can't use that because i am working on a unix system (OS X to be precise.) i would be thankful if someone could help me out.

See Spreadsheet::WriteExcel and xlsmerge - Merge worksheets from different Excel files into one Workbook, which does something similar but not identical, because it concatenates everything into one worksheet instead of copying the worksheets into separate worksheets.	[reply]

You can use Spreadsheet::ParseExcel to read .xls files and Spreadsheet::WriteExcel to create your merged file. You may need to take care of formatting and the like. If your data set is large you may need to look at Spreadsheet::WriteExcel::Big.	[reply]
