And to resolve the issue, the OP is probably confused about whether it's LDAP or NTLM because SharePoint is implemented in an environment where users are within an Active Directory Domain. Just to be explicit, the authentication is NTLM. Where LDAP comes into the picture is that Active Directory can be accessed using LDAP.
