I know of no bindings ready to use. You can try to build such a thing yourself with zavolaj, a foreign function interface for Rakudo.

Is it likely that many/any of these issues are going to be worked out by the release of Rakudo * later this year?

It is likely that they will be worked out if somebody works on them (hint, hint). (Since our pumpking is very much distracted by real-life matters, our schedule is tighter than anticipated, and we are very much in need for help).
