Retired Newsroom Systems Director for The Oregonian newspaper. In that long career I gained exposure (behind the firewall) to PostgreSQL, MySql, PHP, CSS, VB, VBA, Windows and Linux shell scripting, Wordpress, Autoit and (this dates me) XyWrite XPL! Now that I'm flunking Retirement 101, I'm looking at other opportunities to keep the brain streaming. I am returning to my first two loves - duplicate bridge and coding, where I aim to become intermediate or better in Perl and (shhhh) Python. In March 2010 I joined Nozzl Media, Inc. (www.nozzlmedia.com), a startup founded by former co-workers at The Oregonian. A good friend and fellow monk told me there's no better place to learn about and play with Perl than Perlmonks.org ... so here I am to stay.
