in reply to mixing orthogonal types of xp?

Personally, I appreciate the idea, but I respectfully submit that the system works fine as it stands. Give it a chance. I believe you'll see that it does.

If you seek approbation, then do so by earning the respect of your fellow monks through careful, considered, and continued contribution and collaboration. Challenge yourself and judge your accomplishments through your personal opinion, no one else's. That will be far more rewarding that some obscure rating on a single website.

You do not need any other monk's approval to prove your sense of Perl-self worth. Challenge yourself. Yes, learn from those around you, but only you know when you've *got* it. And that's all that really matters, isn't it?

Besides, we already have a diligence score...it's called XP. You have all the permission you need to behave as you feel appropriate. The community will respond as it sees fit and, in doing so, indicate (loosely) whether or not the bulk of opinion agrees with your behavior.

Now...about that tutorial you were going to write?
