Strawberry perl dmake error

kiniakshay has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I get a dmake error code 129 when installing XML::Simple in strawberry perl via it's CPAN client

`Writing Makefile for XML::Simple Makefile out-of-date with respect to C:\strawberry\perl\lib\Config.pm +C:\strawberry\perl\lib\CORE\config.h` [download] Since the newly written Makefile is out-of-date with respect to some files which should definitely have been created/modified earlier, it seems there's something fishy with your system clock... Maybe check the timestamps and set your clock correctly.	[reply] [d/l]

Done that :) Problem was with server date and time, date was off by a few months. Changing the date and time solved the problem.	[reply]

As you've discovered, time is very important :) Consider using ntp to manage this for you.	[reply]
