If the health of these systems are critical to your business is there a reason you aren't monitoring their load, as well as other things such as memory disk space and services using something like Big Sister, which has alerting mechanisms as well as real time monitoring?	[reply]

monitoring and throttling are 2 different things... the maintenance daemon just sleeps again if the load is higher than a configured threshold and picks up its chores when the other daemons are idle.	[reply]
