I'd rather maintain, modify and improve upon JavaFan's code than yours. The fact that you split the code into several subroutines with long names doesn't by itself mean the code is better or "has structure".

Both your code and your posts are long, long, long. That's good for dating, but bad for both code and technical discussion. Let me quote for you a few sentences from "the little book": "A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all sentences short or avoid all detail and treat subjects only in outline, but that every word tell."
