You will find you need the xid to embed any X app into a Tk or Gtk2 window. I've been able to embed mplayer, dillo, and xterms, but they all support the "into xid" option. Also See embedding xterm into a Tk app and Perl/Tk front-end to mplayer and embedding Dillo Html browser in a Tk app

thank you for your help! What I need to embed is any kind of word processor supporting RTF. I tested up to now Kword, OpenOffice and Abiword, but neither seems to support it. Do you know any other? thanks! alessandro	[reply]

I don't know much about word processors, I use plain text. There is one thing I would mention. Gtk2 has the Plug and Socket concept, which I never could get to work..... but, google for "gtk+ plug socket". Perl/Gtk2 has methods to use plugs and sockets. If you could find a word processor that was written in GTK+, you may be able to use plug/socket with it from Perl/Gtk2. If you do get it going, please write a tutorial on it. ;-) The Perl/Gtk2 maillist would be a good place to ask. I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth.
