chumley has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:
Just a quick question:
Has anyone used Perl with Netcool? I have a few projects that would work well with Perl, I think - such as creating trouble tickets that will be entered in Remedy.
Netcool uses their own database, and I haven't seen a DBI driver for it. I've thought of writing one but I'm a beginner at object-oriented Perl, and I've only read about the DBI - never used it. Of course that's a good reason to write it, just to learn how. :-)
Chumley"What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore divine revelation, forget what 'the stars foretell,' avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable 'verdict of history,' -what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue. Get the facts!"
