AnomalousMonk, As far as I can tell, that won't work. It appears the OP isn't trying to extract valid email addresses but rather break an address into its constituent parts. Of course, the OP isn't realizing there are MANY valid email addresses they are not considering. I have a list of links on my homenode about why it might not be a good idea to use Email::Valid. It does look like Email::Address does do what the OP wants though.
