I can't get this to run. I get:

Use of uninitialized value at x line 10.
Illegal modulus zero at x line 22.

I'm using 5.005_02 on HP-UX (PA-RISC 1.1). Is it a version thing?

Works fine for me under win32 and 5.6.0 It does have a gethostbyname lurking in there at line 10 which is used to set @a via a split. The next appearance of @a is line 20 where it is used to set $k. $k is used as a mod value in line 22 so if gethostbyname is not implemented on your system it would give the result you note. tachyon	[reply]
