how to extract text from image

opensourcer has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi, I'm trying to write a script which reads text from an image file. If any one of you worked on similar script please help me w/ the modules I need to know or any references if you have. Thanks

Does Super Search turn up anything for you? I found a whole bunch of stuff like Convert "Text image" to "Editable text" and Reading Text from image just by typing in "text image ocr". HTH, planetscape	[reply]
