And your best alternative to the problem of installing a pure perl module--copying a text file that takes all of 1 minute to do--is to suggest the OP
switch to a different operating system, entailing:
- Deciding which of the 100's of distributions to download: (say 1 months research);
- download it: (1 hour to several days depending upon his connection);
- burn it to a CD or 3 or 5:(say 1 hour);
- back up all the work on his current machine: (say 1 day);
- blow away his current install (1 hour);
- install (working out how to configure,locate any missing drivers; resolve issues: (anything from 1 to n more day(s));
- work out how to use this new OS effectively; (6 months);
- work out how, and install Perl: (1/2 a day);
- restore his work from cd/dvd working out where to put it: (say 1 day);
- find an editor, learn how to use it effectively: (if he's a quick learner, 7 days);
- work out how to use the compiler and tools effectively: (at least 1 month);
- use CPAN shell to install the module: (at least 5 minutes. Longer if his connection is slow.);
Very helpful.
