You should find it fixed now. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
Apparently, when you turn on html error checking in your Display Settings, it checks not only user-contributed content but also certain other parts of the page, including the nav menu.
Level 4, the maximum, is only available during post preview, so that's the only time you'll see certain very picayune kinds of errors (such as unclosed <li>).
What is the sound of Windows? Is it not the sound of a wall upon which people have smashed their heads... all the way through?

The menu is OK now, but I still see them in Find Nodes and Settings Nodelet.

I actually mentioned it in Re^2: Nodelets' layout, though that was on Thanksgiving so likely went unnoticed.
