And you can't use the one that is available to cross-compile to those for which it isn't?

Also, didn't HP drop support for 10.20 years ago?

Besides that, objects compiled by gcc are still running slower than when compiled with HP C-ANSI-C.

But that is a choice. Should p5p's compiler policy be defined in terms of your choices?

      So Tux' need to restrict to C89 is because he tests Perl on HP-UX 10.20.

      Who is he testing Perl on a long unsupported OS for?

      Don't misunderstand me, I not suggesting my opinion should be any influence on p5p--as if :). I'm just trying to get to the bottom of the logic.

        I don't have names for you in that question, but I do have numbers. I make perl software depots available for all architectures I have direct access to, and put them on-line as soon as I have time to do so. For 5.12.2 other (payed) work delayed my doing so quite a bit, but here are the dates I put perl-5.12.2 on-line and the number of downloads I get from (just two of the four) mirrors to see if those serve a purpose:

        The top 3 are PA-RISC, the bottom two are Itanium. The top 3 are not actively supported anymore by HP or HP's porting center.
