However it happens that I mostly need my task for Windows, and, although you state that FUSE is available for windows, according to http://fuse.sourceforge.net/ it is not supported there.
next, reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filesystem_in_Userspace gives me an idea that there is a Callback File System™ - Create and manage virtual filesystems and disks from your Windows applications - but this is certainly not what I want, and it is also not free.
