I'm an old dude, who's been hacking around code since I started on Wilbur in 1978. I learned most of my coding, and my bad habits on Applesoft basic. I did a little C and C++, but found it frustrating -- I can make elementary changes to somebody else's code, but that's about it.
I discovered Perl when I started writing CGI programs in late 90s. I still know doodly-squat about OOP, and I tend to roll my own solutions rather than learn somebody else's modules, but I do know enough to use CGI and strict.
Lately, I've been using Perl and javascript to work up some simple web-based apps.
