Alternatively you could reassess the way you are solving whatever problem it is you have written the script to solve. Maybe if you tell us something about what you are trying to do we can offer a quicker solution?

I have list of files in an array,I run the command shown as above,if there is an stderr, I print and output the file to a text file,this process is taking time	[reply]

I thought you said in the OP that the $cmd process was taking the time. Now you seem to be saying the error handling is taking the time. Have you profiled the code to find out where the time is actually being spent? True laziness is hard work	[reply]
