send mail by smtp.gmail.com

rickrutgers has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

We need to send mail by a perl-script in an environment WITHOUT a regular smtp server. For this purpose i create a new gmail account so i can send this mail via smtp.gmail.com. After struggling and reading tons-of-info we won't succeed. Is it anyway possible to send this mail by smtp.gmail.com? If so, how to fix this in a perl-script. Any input is welcome, thanks in advance.

There's a module that sends mail via google's smtp: Email::Send::SMTP::Gmail.	[reply]
