I suggested changing File::HomeDir's documentation instead of changing File::HomeDir, to which you said "Seems backwards to me."

No, you did not say that. You said

You could suggest a documentation update to File::HomeDir that highlights the fact that it's common for path with spaces to be returned.

There is no mention of changing File::HomeDir. Nobody suggested patching File::HomeDir.

No, but you suggested changing what File::HomeDir returns, being the direction one would take if one was going away from changing the documentation. The forward to the backward, so to speak.

This can be achieved by changing File::HomeDir (which would impose limits) or by changing the OS (which is not realistic). This is what I said.

      No I did not.

So what change did you have in mind as the move forward?

        Update: Fixed grammar
