If I read the spec correctly -

$x =~ /Y\D\d\d\d\d\d\d\D$/

might be a starting point.

    Here's my thought on what you're looking for...
    if ($x =~ /YD\d+$/) {}
    Hopefully this "Hlelp"s... :)
