mkuser gecos using spaces

kafkaf55 has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Trying to add user using rsh to remote server. My variable for gecos has spaces. Get usage error because of the space. Need help in passing this variable thru with spaces. Running AIX 5.3.

Have tried several options, but gecos=$GECOS (John Smith) give me a syntax error. Cannot seem to substitue the words into one.	[reply]
