Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello,

Can anyone suggest a good web host?

I am leaving JaguarPC because they have disabled their C-compiler and now I have to ask and wait for modules to be installed. I am considering HostGator but I am a bit concerned about e-mail blacklisting issues and uptime.

Thanks!

This is what I have now:

I have never really found a managed-hosting setup that I really liked.   I wound up subscribing for one (virtual... cloud...) dedicated server, then hosting the various domains-of-interest on it.   It is a technically similar arrangement except for the fact that control of the server is mine.

The core problem, for me, is not this-or-that web host, but the very simple fact that the hosting is shared.   It’s like living in a big hotel where you can’t stand the color of the carpeting and you can’t change anything about it.

Did you try using "use strict" and "use warnings"?
