If, when you go to http://www.perlmonks.org, you encounter a blank page (that returns instantly), the following appears to be a reliable workaround:

Request this URL, instead:   http://www.perlmonks.org/?node=seekers of perl wisdom

I have not yet determined if this would work too:   http://www.perlmonks.org/?

Um, didn't tye and the others already determine that?

It just dawned on me I'm seeing this too. Unlike Is anyone at perlmonks aware that... I get a blank page sometimes on previewing replies, sometimes just visiting nodes, doesn't matter what the url it is or what page it is

Refreshing usually returns html, sometimes it takes 3 refreshes

tye had speculated it probably is due to database server acting up, sounds plausible

FWIW, I don't get a blank page from perlmonks.org or perlmonks.net. That means, of the six permutations of the root URI ({www,}.perlmonks.{com,org,net}), only two are showing blank pages.

Of course, I've bookmarked and enter the site through the "Recently Active Threads" node on the dot-org anyway, so I wouldn't have noticed this even if I had been using one of www.perlmonks.{org,net}.

That isn't the real question, now is it? The question is ... why is it still broken? Y'know, if it were rewritten in PHP ...
