What perl & moose versions?. I'm getting the same thing (no around in the derived class) under both perl 5.10.0 linux and 5.12.3 win32; both with Moose 2.0010:

ok 1 - The object isa My::Base
I get around...
ok 2 - base is correct
ok 3 - derived doesn't require 'attr' at construction
ok 4 - The object isa My::Derived
ok 5 - derived is correct
ok 6 - inherited requires 'attr' at construction
