in reply to where did yall learn perl?
I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, I'd highly recommend "Effective Perl Programming: Ways to Write Better, More Idiomatic Perl (2nd Edition)". Excellent book.
Note, it's not a book to teach you programming, and it's not an introduction to Perl. However, once you're comfortable with Perl, it will make you a better Perl programmer.
