special symbol removal

sarvan has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi there,

I am doing a web related script in which i use the google's result snippet of each query. When i process this snippet many times i come across different symbols in snippet.

like ,.:([] etc. many unknown symbols too.. Also numbers occur many times.

Is there any special regular expression which removes any kind of symbols from a specified sentence in perl

Plz let me know.. thanks.

See perlretut. It's not hard, once you decided what you actually want to remove (or what you want to keep, for that matter). See also: Scrubbing a string Perl 6 - second systems done right	[reply]

You should also find the tr operator with the /c and /d options useful.	[reply]
