    use DateTime; my $date = DateTime->now(time_zone=>'GB', locale => 'en_GB'); print "today is $date";

      And, after you've made yourself comfortable with its documentation, it really is fairly straightforward and easy to use. I always fall back on DateTime whenever I have to calculate on times, time zones, dates, and things like that.

    Um, FWIW, the US is a big country, it doesn't have a single timezone... it spans four in the continental US alone... and more if you count all the way to Hawaii...

      US isn't part of the UK
