The act of submitting Display Settings corrects your number of write-ups which can change your home node from showing "Writeups: none". But this is not the problem that was being complained about. Even when the cached count of write-ups is 0, you still get a link to the list of write-ups and the list of write-ups will be populated.

The complaint was about going to the list of write-ups and getting a 'server error'.

By the way, there used to be a misfeature of the node cache that could result in all of your user settings being blown away if you visited when the DB was bogged down and you got unlucky. This was, by far, the most common reason people ended up with "Writeups: none" on their homenode (and that was certainly not the worst part). I believe that misfeature has been fixed and that we haven't had anybody have all of their user settings be reset in a very long time.

I understand that these are two different errors, but no, I really meant what I said in my reply. These years I often get the more serious symptom when the list of replies on Nodes You Wrote is actually replaced by a server error, and submitting Display Settings does fix this in my experience. I don't know what the cause of this error is, nor why it doesn't happen after submitting Display Settings.	[reply]
