You could consider arming yourself with some of the many wonderful Perl books around as well:

Effective Perl Programming - D'Foy et al
Conway's OO Perl
MJD's Higher Order Perl

In particular I would recommend the Perl Cookbook.

You suggest these to someone who is yet to learn about references? They are excellent books, but really not appropriate for a beginner! True laziness is hard work	[reply]

Each of them look at refs from a practical point of view - you don't learn to ride a bike by reading about what a pedal is. That said maybe HOP is a gear change too far.	[reply]
