sedusedan has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I use minicpan to download CPAN to my laptop, for offline work. I bet lots of others do the same. What do you use to query this offline CPAN (e.g. search modules or authors by name)? The standard CPAN client? Is there something remotely similar to the web-based search.cpan.org, for offline use? I've read that there's a CPAN app for iPhone, how about for Linux laptops?

Yes, you can use the standard CPAN.pm client - just point it at file:///whatever instead of at a web site.
