Just shame I can't get it to use variable sized circles instead of crosses?

I tried print $fh "set style data circles\n"; but my verion (4.3) doesn't support that, and I don't know if newer ones do.

The help files that come with my version (4.5) suggest that  splot 'c1-hsv-freq.dat' using 1:2:3:(log(4)) with circles ought to work.

It doesn't report any errors, but seems to just ignore the request for circles and uses crosses. (I assumed this was a windows limitation.)
