conversecorollary has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Good Day, Is there a way from PERL, whether in code, piping, system, etc., to print png and/or jpeg files? I would like to avoid re-inventing the wheel if some ne has already done this. I would also like to accomplish this with native Windows, if possible. Thanks, gary

    Are you aware of the existence of CPAN, a repository of modules to perform specific functions/provide extensions?

    If not, you should take the earliest opportunity to become away aware.

    For just one sample (from many in CPAN), a simple search, "site:CPAN.org png," provides:

    Image::PNG - search.cpan.org
    search.cpan.org/perldoc?Image::PNG
    NAME ^. Image::PNG - Read and write PNG (Portable Network Graphics) files ...
    Since it appears that 'doze is your OS, you may be using Active State's Perl... in which case, many Modules found in CPAN have been provided in Win form for acquisition and installation with ppm.

    What do you mean by "print"? As to a printer?
