    my property != your speech

    A link I linked, html I wrote, is my free speech, not your property

      So, a link to your daughters school, with her time schedule, mailed to that shady figure in a long trench coat that lives nearby is fine, as it's to be seen as free speech, and damn your privacy concerns? If you pay somewhere, and the seller then publishes your credit card details on the web, that's free speech too?

      Free speech is important. But it isn't a right that trumps everything else, under any circumstances.

        A link to your daughter's school, with her time schedule would be a serious breach of school security. There would be bigger questions to be answered then whether or not it's free speech. Same goes for credit card details.

        I like to think that here on monks we take data security a little more seriously than that.

        What you've just done is diverted the whole SOPA discussion into a red herring save the children argument.

        If only things were that easy to separate. You *really* have to force reasoning to justify that.

        a link is none of those things, esp that information
