I'm 23... main area of interest is AI (I was working with ANNs and GAs until I lost my fscking grant). Now I've started my own little business and am mostly doing CGI-related jobs to fund my own neural network research on the side. Passing time 'til I can churn something out that I actually find interesting/fulfilling *and* that somebody else feels like funding/purchasing. Am digging the self-employment scene, though, and hope to never have to work for someone else again....

Have used Perl for 4 or 5 years now, but only seriously for the past year or so. I've been using my web/CGI work as a way to become more familiar with Perl, and I'd like to play a part in making Perl a more common choice for AI researchers (maybe *gasp* even writing a module or two), since it does have a few advantages that the usual suspects lack.
