in thread perl install in Fedora 16

What are the ramifications pf removing perl 8.5 and installing perl 8.04? Won't that break my system"

There are no such perl versions.

But yeah, you generally don't want to upgrade/change the system perl, so just install a local one

Sorry, the distro package is perl v8.5*** while the perl version is perl 5, version 14, subversion 2 (v5.14.2). The last Tk package is 8.04*** which I believe is perl v4.6. Is this correct?

I did as was suggested and installed perl-Tk and all went well on the laptop. Theguiguts program compiled and ran fine. On the desktop however, the Tk part is not giving me an error at line 45, but I am getting other errors, the most recent about Test not being available. I have checked and that file is in /usr/share/perl5/Test directory on the laptop but not the desktop. I have gone through the package manager packages and installed everything related to perl-Tk but the files are not on the desktop. I don't like to install outside of the package manager as I usually end up with problems down the road with dependencies. Thanks for your help

I really can't help you there, I don't deal with fedora or yum ...
