Looks like I'll be holding out for 5.16.1 when (hopefully) they'll have fixed the problem with vec.

It'd be nice if this silliness went away also, but as it seems to be deliberate -- no matter how ill-advised -- I won't hold my breath.

    I agree. That belongs in a linter (e.g. perlcritic).
