Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Monks,
I have read there A guide to installing modules for Win32 about bypassing the proxy for using ppm by setting set http_proxy, set http_proxy_user and set http_proxy_pass.
Perhaps a stupid question, but: is it safe to type http_proxy_pass (that is also a password for a local machine in the network) - in other words can it be read by trespasser by doing this?
Thanks!
